===TEXAS 912 OWNERS SUPPORT GROUP NEWSLETTER===
Date: 1-29-03
Hello Everyone!!!!
Alot has happened since our last newsletter. I wanted to bring everyone up to
date on the latest developments in our world!
First of all, the 912 Registry (http://www.912registry.org) is going to see some major
changes on February 1st. I can't share the exact details with you right now,
but please keep a close eye on the site for some very exciting developments.
If you are not a member, please go there and sign up right away!!!
Our Texas 912 Website is up and running. (http://morrie.larson.tripod.com/id82.htm)
From here you can see the latest information on what is going on here in Texas and who is involved.
There is information there about owners, events, and useful links.
Also, we now have a Texas 912 Bulletin board on the web! You can access it from the Texas 912 Website.
Please go there and post. This is our community and the BBS gives us a chance to share ideas and tips.
Our January 18th Rendezvous was a huge success. We had five 912s there and 2 911
(actually a 911 and a 930) here for the day. A great time was had by all and we left excited for the next gathering.
We are currently scheduled for March 22nd in Cedar Park (North Austin), Texas, for our second rendezvous.
This one promises to be even better than the last one. This will be our last gathering before summer,
next one will be in October when the heat breaks. In the event of rain, the March 22nd date
will be moved to the following weekend, March 29th.
Just a few of the items planned are:
=Free Free Free (no charge to attend)
=Juice, Coffee, and rolls on arrival
=Door Prizes from our first "Sponsor" 9 Magazine.
=Morning Tech session
=Hill Country Fun Run
=Lunch on the lake
=912 inspection and rating
=Prizes for the Good, the bad, and the Ugly
=Lots of group and single Photo Opps! (I'll supply the camera and get you the pictures.)
=Free CD with pictures and movies from the event.
=Evening Car Show at Albertsons in Oak Hill (South Austin)
I am looking for help on Tech session suggestions so I can make the necessary arrangements.
Need volunteers for the inspection. Want to develop a list of items and method to check.
We'll make sure we have good news coverage at the next run also. I'll do what I can to get papers and local news present.
The east coast folks got so excited about our success that they are now up with their
own owners group and are planning a Rendezvous in the near future. Go to our bulletin board and look
on the left hand side. there are summaries of posts from the Southern California,
Bay 912 and the new SE 912 group. Feel free to post anything, technical or social!
Other news:
Don't know if you subscribe or not, but there is an article in this months Excellence about a cool 912.
It's a Porsche only rag. B&N, Borders etc all have it. Basically the guy built a 912R.
Lightweight chassis with a fairly mild race engine.
Watch for our promo in the upcoming issue of 9 Magazine and on their website.
A link is posted on the Texas 912 site.
Finally, we are joining forces with the early 911 guys. Looking for owners from 65 through 76 to join us.
These cars are same as us with a couple extra cylinders. If you know anyone with one of these
cars or a 912 that isn't on our list, send me an e-mail and I will get them added to our distribution.
Keep the 912 Faith!!

Hello Texas 912ers!
Here's our first newsletter. I have no format and am
flying by the seat of my pants, but regardless, here goes.
News:
We have a website! We're up and running in cyberspace.
If you haven't been, check it out.
There's a guest book hanging out there. Show your support by signing
the book and sending in your pics. If you know anybody with a 356,
I think we should have them in here too, so pass the word.
We have 6 members so far. We are in the Dallas, Houston and
Austin areas. I would love to see this grow.
=========================================================
12/3/02:
Chuck Roche created a Yahoo group for us to mess with.
Check it out and leave some feedback on the guest book as to
what you think!
(Check out Chuck's black '67 on the owners page)
Rick Becker from the 912 Registry is compiling a list of registered Texas owners.
Once I get it, I'll send out a mass mailing and see if we can generate more interest.
The Rendezvous:
We should get together in person, as many of us as possible, in a location that
makes the most sense based on who is going. For now, I'll throw out the following
date, time and location suggestion to the group. I am looking for feedback from
all of you so I can change or firm up the info as soon as possible. Then I'll post on
the various bulletin boards and we'll see what happens. Regardless, I'll be there!
Date: 1/18/03
Time: 11:00 am
Location: Cedar Park, Texas. (Morrie's House)
Activities: Tech tips swapped, Engines revved, Many pics taken for website.
A fun run drive out to Lake Travis for a late lunch, a cruise down a winding road,
and more scenic photo opportunities.
Evening activities, a backyard BBQ, and whatever we want to do are also possible.
I suggest we do the majority of our activities between 11am and 3pm so anyone who
wants to day trip from Houston or Dallas can do it in daylight. All are welcome to
stay the night at my place, plenty of room to roll out sleeping bags.
Give me some feedback and I'll send an update
in a few days. Location, date and time are all up up us!
Best Regards and Happy Holidays!

12/3/02, from the BBS:
Way to go in getting this organized. As an organizer of the Rendezvous last
August it will be worth the time and effort for you guys to get together.
Maybe you can discuss a caravan to the Rendezvous next August.
There are some guys from Maryland and Tennessee and Indiana talking
about making the trip. A southern route via Texas maybe????
A couple from France have mentioned shipping their 912 to
the states and touring around with a finish at the Rendezvous.
There is a guy on Bay 912 from KC who might be interested in
making a drive to Texas to meet up with you. I would suggest
you toss a line on Bay 912 and see what comes up.
